			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are seeking applications for the 2011 Rory Dempster annual internship for young Lighting Designers.Â  The recipient will be given a stipend to work in secondment with a leading lighting designer for one production attached one of three major theatre companies.</p>
<p>Rory Dempster, who passed away in 2004 was a distinguished Lighting Designer working extensively in Australia and internationally, with a career spanning more than 30 years. He worked with Andy Phillips at the Royal Court in London during the 1960â€™s and 1970â€™s, establishing the Courtâ€™s â€˜white lightâ€™ principle â€“ that nothing was more important on the stage than the actorâ€™s face. During this time, Rory worked with some of the best playwrights of the day, including Trevor Griffiths, Michael Frayn, Howard Brenton, Athol Fugard and David Hare.</p>
<p>A lover of theatre, Rory subsequently became involved in other theatre relatedprojects. He was the founding partner of lighting rental company White Light; he was part of the team that created the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith; he was deeply involved with Field Day in Northern Ireland; and he worked with David Hare at the Nottingham Playhouse.</p>
<p>In the early 1990â€™s Rory moved to Australia, where he continued to concentrate on projects that interested him, forming a close working relationship with director Neil Armfield and working extensively with Company B Belvoir, Sydney Theatre Company and Opera Australia.</p>

<p>The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is renowned for its presentation and management of performing arts productions, producing and staging special events and festivals, and for involvement as an entrepreneur with major touring productions.Â </p>
<p>An exceptional opportunity currently exists for a suitably experienced individual to join the Production Services team in the full-time 2 year term position of Electrical Services Coordinator.</p>
<p>Reporting directly to the Manager &#8211; Lighting, your main responsibilities will include managing, supervising and maintaining all QPAC lighting and electrical equipment. You will also be required to carry out minor electrical building maintenance and installations and maintain the test and tag of all QPAC electrical equipment in accordance with relevant legislation.<br />

Additional tasks will include technical input on the preparation of tenders for upgrades to building electrical services as well as ordering and purchasing of supplies, consumable stock and equipment for use in the venues and Lighting Workshop.</p>
<p>Proven communication and customer service skills will be paramount in this position as you will be supervising the workshop team and liaising with hirers regarding the safe use of lighting and general electrical equipment.</p>
<p>We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated individual with well developed communication skills, strong leadership and commitment to safe working practices. As a minimum requirement,Â Â  a Queensland Electrical Fitter or Queensland Electrical Mechanics Licence is mandatory. Higher Electrical trade qualifications and/or Certificate IV in assessment and work place training would be an advantage. In addition, the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends is required.</p>

<p>QPAC currently has two opportunities available for highly motivated individuals to join the Lighting Unit in the position of <strong>Senior Technician â€“ Lighting. </strong>To meet the requirements of our valued clients, we are seeking to appoint the following:</p>

<li>1 x Full-time 2 year term appointment<br />
$42,558 per annum plus super, approved overtime and</li>
<li>1 x Part-time 2 year term appointment (minimum 16 hours per week)<br />

<p>These important leadership roles will be responsible for supervising and engaging staff to provide professional client focused and cost efficient services to Venue Hirers and other QPAC Units. These positions require high calibre individuals who are suitably experienced and qualified in theatre lighting. Customer service is of paramount importance to these roles, as is experience in leading and motivating teams in a dynamic live theatre environment.</p>
<p>The hours of work will be primarily theatre based with some maintenance and office work. Availability will be required for day, evening and weekend hours and for extended periods to service hirer&#8217;s schedules.</p>
<p>Ordinary hours worked for part time employees shall be as rostered with a minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week, with the capacity to increase hours to less than 38 hours per week. Depending on business activity, you may be required to work more than 38 hours per week however approved penalty and overtime rates are applicable.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Bytecraft Entertainment, a leading supplier of lighting systems and crew to the touring and event market is looking for an experienced full time moving light technician to join the Bytecraft EntertainmentMelbourne team.</p>
<p>This position is based in our Dandenong South office but will be required to spend some time on production / tour work some of it away from Melbourne during peak work times.</p>
<p>The position is responsible for preparing and configuring moving light fixtures prior to hire as well as cyclical cleaning, maintenance and record keeping of the mover fleet. Maintenance of moving lights is to module replacement level only.Â </p>
<p>The position is part of the Hire department but also works closely with Service department staff that performs board level / electrical and electronic repairs.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will have previous experience in ad hoc and cyclical / preventative maintenance of moving light fixtures (Mac &amp; VL fixtures preferred), carry out work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and deliver consistently high standard of equipment preparation and testing.Â  The Company is willing to provide further / supplementary training to the right candidate.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be able to deliver under pressure of last minute change and tight timelines, maintain accurate records, have experience with the MS Office products, work well as a team player and demonstrate effective communications skills.</p>
<p>Possession of some relevant licences and qualifications although not mandatory will be advantageous.Â  E.g., Forklift, Electrical, Red Card, First Aid.</p>

<p>These positions will be based in our Dandenong South office and are involved in all stages of lighting production work from lighting maintenance and prep of equipment and through to the work associated with load in, rehearsal and show.</p>
<p>The positions are required to work on touring and local productions as well as Corporate and Special Events both in and away from Melbourne. Possession of some relevant licences and qualifications although not mandatory will be advantageous. E.g. Test Tag, Forklift, Truck driver, EWP, Boom, Electrical, Red Card, First Aid &amp; OH&amp;S Rep course.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will work well as a part of a close knit team, be willing to learn, focused on detail and physically fit. Previous professional lighting experience is a must however the Company is willing to provide further training to the right candidates.</p>

<p>The Control Systems Specialist will assist in the building and maintenance of market confidence in a new brand of matrix switches, touch control and conference systems to be represented by Jands. This will require marketing and technical support to the companyâ€™s internal and external customers.</p>
<p>Responsibilities of the Control Systems Specialist include, but are not limited to;<br />
â€¢Â assist with technical support and innovative design solutions to clients;<br />
â€¢Â planning and implementing strategies to promote the company and itâ€™s products to AV contractors and consultants Australia wide;<br />
â€¢Â providing written technical articles suitable for publication in company newsletters and/or websites; and<br />
â€¢Â providing pre-sale technical support in the form of pre-delivery testing and/or configuration of products.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will possess:<br />
â€¢Â relevant tertiary qualifications in electronics or control system design as well as related industry certifications;<br />
â€¢Â minimum 5 years relevant experience in AV installation/contracting system and control integration;<br />
â€¢Â broad experience in the design, implementation, commissioning and trouble shooting of video matrix and control systems;<br />
â€¢Â comprehensive understanding of modern control systems including system design and operation; and<br />
