On Thursday, November 25, the eighth annual Produccion Profesional and Produccion Audio Awards took place at the IFEMA Trade Fair in Madrid, Spain. Nearly 500 professionals from the lighting, sound, production, TV, and video industries were in attendance and eager to honor the award winners from 23 distinguished categories. At the event, the VLX Wash luminaire was honored with the Best Product for Lighting and/or Scenery Award, and Philips Vari-Lite’s authorized sales dealer, EES, was on-hand to graciously accept the award.
“We were thrilled when we were told the VLX Wash had been chosen as a finalist, but when we heard it had actually won the award, we were exhilarated,” said Nacho Acha-Orbea, president of EES. “We are delighted to know that both the lighting industry and voting jury members are as enthusiastic about the VLX Wash as we are. With no doubt this was a memorable night and it was our sincere pleasure to accept the award on behalf of Philips Vari-Lite.”
The awards are given by two technical publications, Produccion Profesional and Produccion, and recognize the most significant technical achievements to the audio/visual industry. To decide the awards, the editors of Produccion Profesional and Produccion Audio magazines presented their readerships with a choice of five nominees in each of the 23 categories. Next, the top three finalists from each of category were submitted by secret ballot to a distinguished panel of jury members. Compromised of independent and industry-recognized professionals, the jury members then selected the final award winners.
“We could not be happier with the outstanding performance and the wide-spread acceptance we are receiving with the VLX Wash luminaire,” said Bob Schacherl, Philips Vari-Lite vice president of sales and marketing. “When we first began getting positive feedback from the field about the performance of the VLX Wash we knew we had something special. Now as we continue to build upon the technology behind the VLX, we are even more excited about employing this technology in our future luminaires.”
Previously this year, the VLX Wash was also honored with the 2010 Parnelli Award for Indispensable Lighting Technology of the Year, which is voted on by subscribers of PLSN and FOH magazines.
