Technician

  • Help Deliver Exhibitions at the Melbourne Museum.
  • Irregular Part time; 3 days a week, Ongoing.
  • Based in Carlton.

 Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a skilled technician to assist with the installation and maintenance of technical infrastructure both within the gallery spaces and in the rest of the building.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You responsibility will be to maintain and administer the large 2-way radio fleet and to assist the technical operations team with maintenance and installation tasks including working with lighting, audio-visual equipment, and exhibition furniture relocation.

 Notable skill sets include:

  • Experience and knowledge of lighting and/or audio-visual systems.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of hand & power tools.
  • Have competent administrative skills.

To be successful, you will have experience in technical work in either a theatrical or gallery environment; be self-motivated and be able to work under minimal supervision. You will also have experience organising and supervising external contractors to meet the department’s needs and be well presented and possess excellent communication skills.
