Seasonal Lighting Technicians, Opera Australia

Opera Australia is seeking to engage 1 x Lighting Supervisor (Level 3) and 2 x Lighting Technicians (Level 2) on seasonal contracts for its 2012 Winter Season at the Sydney Opera House.

The successful candidates will have at least 3 years experience as lighting technicians in a professional theatre environment and will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sound knowledge of the set-up and operation of both conventional and moving light fixtures.
  • A good understanding of lighting control systems and associated power requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel software.
  • Being highly motivated and team orientated.
  • Having a genuine desire to work within the Arts and Entertainment Industry.

An EWP certificate and knowledge of Vectorworks is desirable.

The positions involve working a 38-hour week plus overtime as required, rostered over a seven-day period.


Lighting Supervisor (Level 3) – 1 position available

Two separate contracts:
Contract 1       23 June – 4 August 2012
Contract 2       6   September – 3 November 2012 

Lighting Technician (Level 2) – 2 positions available 

Two separate contracts:
Contract 1       18 June – 7 August 2012
Contract 2       6 September – 3 November 2012
