Over 500 Anolis power-saving LED lights have been installed in GCCEC

Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has continued its investment in energy efficient lighting upgrades and solutions by installing more than 500 Anolis power-saving full colour spectrum LED fixtures throughout the venue’s foyer and corridor areas.

Australia’s largest regional convention center specializes in all events from small meetings to large-scale special events accommodating up to 6,000 guests and offers over 10,000m2 of floor space for conferences, exhibitions and banquets.

The Centre’s decision to invest in the latest Anolis Lighting fixture solutions for the second stage of lighting upgrades comes after the successful stage one supply of Anolis LED Lighting fixtures to the common foyer and function areas of the Centre by the ULA Group.

Incorporating new mood lighting schemes for the venue, ULA’s Architectural lighting specialist Blair Terrace worked closely with the Centre’s Audio Visual  manager to deliver the most advanced LED lighting solutions. As part of the careful consideration, the solution had to be both functional and adaptive to the demands of the high ceiling foyer space and meet potential client requirements, while also working with existing lighting structures to produce correct lux levels and energy ratings which must be adhered to. The agreed perfect choice that ticked all of these boxes was the ArcSource 24MC (21deg) multichip fixture with AR1-11 housing. Additional ArcLine 20&40MC fixtures were installed on the opposite walls in the same area to compliment the mood lighting in the foyer.

Anolis ArcSource 3 & ArcSource 6 RGB fixtures were chosen to be the best fittings to be installed at the other end of the foyer and throughout the corridors of the venue. An impressive 350 pieces of these fixtures were installed throughout the venue, creating an vibrant atmosphere, not only for the visitors to the convention centre, but also providing a beautiful glow to the venue which is seen through its floor to ceiling glass walls for miles away.

Anolis ArcPower drivers are used to control all the new Anolis lighting fixtures throughout the venue, which allows for the flexibility to provide event planners with the lighting they need, without affecting set-up times.

Blair Terrace from ULA Group said: “We were excited that Anolis was the brand of choice for the second stage of this project as it follows on and perfectly fits with the other stages we upgraded previously.”

One of the first meeting facilities in Australia to achieve internationally recognized EarthCheck Silver Certification, GCCEC has undertaken extensive action to reduce waste and consumption of resources including power usage in efforts to battle rising costs.

Stage one lighting upgrades saw the installation of external and stair tread LED lights cut electricity usage from 18W to 3W per unit. Additionally, the replacement of all external lights to more efficient models resulted in a dramatic reduction in electricity usage from 85W to 48W.

GCCEC’s General Manager Adrienne Readings said that the Centre is committed to operating at the world’s highest environmental standards. “We have implemented many initiatives to reduce costs and lower our carbon footprint but we are always looking for ways to enhance our operational practices and this includes partnering with clients and suppliers to ensure sustainability is achieved through positive choices and practices.”

In 2013 the Centre will be eligible for Gold status indicating five years of continual commitment to sustainable benchmark operations and certification with EarthCheck.

Cuono Biviano, Managing Director of ULA Group said: “I would like to congratulate the team at the GCCEC for receiving this prestigious EarthCheck Silver Certification, and choosing Anolis as their LED Lighting solution provider. Anolis prides itself as a world leader in advanced LED Lighting technology and the most energy efficient product solution in its class. The end result at GCCEC is visually very spectacular and proves that you can paint with light and create an amazing atmosphere no matter the requirement. I thank GCCEC for their long association with ULA and look forward to the continuing relationship and the possibilities ahead.”
