MAC’s and MA given a ride at Sydney’s Luna Park

When Microhire recently took over as the inhouse audio visual supplier at Luna Park, Sydney they immediately set about installing Martin MAC’s and MA Lighting control into the popular function venue Crystal Palace.

Eight Martin MAC250 Entours and four MAC250 wash units were installed along with a grandMA ultra-light console. Previously the venue focused its lighting on table washing but Microhire opted for a more show-orientated set up.

“However we are looking at table wash fixtures and have some items in mind,” said Thomas Armati, General Manager NSW for Microhire. “Rigging constraints in the room are quite difficult to work with as you can only hang 50 kilos per linear metre on the wing bars and only 25 kilos in some other areas. The MAC250 was ideal because it only weighs 20 kilos. Also, for the room configuration, the MAC250’s supply the brightness that I was looking for and the price point allowed us to get the amount of fixtures we were happy with.”

Thomas was also impressed by Show Technology’s willingness to spray paint the MAC250’s white so that they blend well into the Crystal Palace and do not intrude on the room’s aesthetics.

Microhire is a company that likes to stick with the grandMA logic owning several of the consoles. Everyone at Microhire is MA trained as they have a trainer qualified technical director.

”The client absolutely loves the new lighting set up,” commented Thomas. “It’s been used on many events such as weddings, product launches and all sorts resulting in many satisfied customers.

“We’re loyal Martin users and we’re very much in love with the product.”
