How You Win When the Producer Says IWIN

What if you could place a high output colour changing fixture wherever you wanted it that didn’t need to be physically connected to mains power or, even the control desk, yet would respond to your every command for hours without rest.  Just put them in place and turn them on!   Right up there with “sky hooks” and other useful creations that we all wish had been invented!  Thanks to the clever people at Chroma Q at least one mythical piece of kit is now a reality.

The new Chroma Q Color Charge is a battery powered LED fixture that incorporates an onboard Wireless W-DMX receiver for cable less control.  Output from the 12 LED RGBA head is a hefty 600 lumens with Chroma Q’s signature high CRI (92) and CCT (1000 to 10,000 K adjustable) values.  So, no matter if you are seeking to faithfully reproduce the look of a coloured object or project  colour onto a white one, the Color Charge is up to the task.

If you don’t need to make constant changes it is possible to sync the units so they will operate in a like manner without the need for external controls. Battery life varies depending on the colour and intensity selected, but up to 30 hours continuous operation is possible from the re-chargeable NiMH battery pack.  To help you stay on top of the power situation the lamp life remaining is continuously updated on the on board display.  The battery pack is rated to accept up to 1000 re-charges without ill effect which, considering the light source has a rated life of 25,000 hours, is just as well.

Far from being a novelty effect however the Color Charge is a serious designer’s tool with the “Magic Amber” colour mixing system and smooth theatrical grade dimming curve found throughout the Chroma Q range.  Attention to detail is found throughout right down to the built in ½” thread computer lock so admiring punters won’t walk off with your new fixture.

Like all Chroma Q products the Color Charge is built to withstand the rigours of the road yet weighs in a just 7.5kg, and is convection cooled so won’t add to the noise floor of your next corporate show. So the next time the producers want the impossible, deliver it to them without raising a sweat.   Due in Australia in the 2nd quarter of 2010 the Color Charge will be essential buying for any professional events production company.
