I'm a student at Hobart College and It's a nice desk for students to work and learn on. A moving light desk with up to 36 lights for under 8 grand. NOt BAd

It's good that LSC put out a moving light controller, they really needed it (because that's what the market is).

Not sure if I'd use an LSC model over a flying pig system.

Yes But the Maxim consoles are great for schools and other groups who can't afford a higher priced system

We've used the Hog250 in a school many times, for band competitions right down to your simple school social.

The maxim is a good desk for students. The Patpad make it easy to understand moving light contorl. 3 Schools in Tas have a maxim. My School Hobart College and Hutchins also have Macs, So it was cheaper for us to get the maxim to use our lights.

We have been testing and evaluating The Maxim. It is a great console for the price. Great to 'fly' things on it. The FX Engine has more flexibility than the hog. It is good for simple functions like 1 to 1 through to a dozen moving lights. I can't find anything else like it on the market

Thank You, As I said the maxim will go far. There are the normal new borad bugs but other than that it's a great desk. Yes a lot better for on the fly shows. patching is easyer too. It's Great for 1st time moving light desk users.

Next time I need to run a show on the fly I'll see where I can source one.

We try our hardest to program the entire show prior to load in, or at least the show, from theatre to bands. I think the only time we'll need to work 'on the fly' is in a dance party situation.

Part of the reason why we are looking at purchasing one is it is an excellent training console. We operate Sabres, Ovation and Sparks. Puting a novice on those is like handing the keys to a F1 car to a learner. It's great for developing the basic concepts such as LTP/HTP etc and Console Management.

Gee David, I think we might need to put you on the payroll Wink

Certainly you seem to understand the LSC maXim philosophy, to make a moving light console that is as easy to use as a two preset conventional console.

No it doesn't do everything a Hog, Compulite or GrandMA can do, but it does all the important stuff (Presets, Pallettes, Effects Engine, Fans, etc) for a FRACTION of the cost. And you can learn the basics in less than 30 minutes!

Just wait till we release version 0.96 next week. It includes the final Effects Engine (now with Offset), Fans and a really cool Re-Trigger function for the PaTPAD. You can now also lock the Yellow flash buttons into Preset or Pallette mode, thus doubling the playback surface for 'busking' style shows.

Just make sure you join our maXim Update mailing list via the web site and you will be notified as soon as it is released.

Hi,

I don't mean to stir things up in here but.

We have an Event 408, which is an awsome console. To my understanding it is more than capable of the functions the Maxim is capable of.

I am a Jands fan. I got turned of LSC my the Axiom and the "unfinished-ness" of a few of the functions in that.

I have had nothing but good experiences with the 408 (despite a couple of bugs along the way, which we think have been crushed by the latest round of updates [downloadable])

I don't mean to dis' the Maxim as i havn't really had a _Good_ play with one.

But all i am pointing out is there are other consoles in the same level of the maxim that are all worth a look at to perhaps suit ones needs.

The Frog/Fatfrog is another example.

Regards...

Adam
