Dear Alians,
Had the experience of re living my touring days last night at the Cold Chisel concert at ACER. Most impressed.
A far cry from the parcans, lekos and Patt 223's we used to have when I toured with them in the early '80's.
So for those who know, what went into the rig for this show? Who's gear, operator/designer, type of LED fixtures etc?
An old fart would be interested to know...... _________________ Never play leap frog with a unicorn |

After doing half the setup this morning i can gaurentee there a a hell of a lot more then 3 101's haha
Also mac 2000's and TW1's, LED 64's for truss warmers, blinders and sun strips.
Francesco Calvi using 2 M1's (90% sure they were m1's, didnt see the lids off the cases)
hope that answers your questions. |

After reading the recent press release about Francesco using a heap of mac 101's on the show, i'm wondering how they were packaged/cased for transport. The lamps seem small enough to travel in the trusses but they might not travel well, or were they could of been bolted onto a bar and treat a bar 6 of old fashioned par cans.
I know that if I had to rig 150 small fixtures gig after gig I would be looking for a rapid deployment method as just trying to teach the loaders to count to 150 each day could sometimes take longer than the set up |

they travel 8 to a case...
so you're looking at 16 cases, including a bun load of spares. that is 2 rows in your truck... |

Thats still 150 fixtures to make sure they go into the correct cases and correct positions every day.
I suppose it comes down to truck space, but personally for a fixture of that size and in those quanities on a 3 month tour I would look for a more leisurely option. |

oh, im not disagreeing with you at all..
but that said, 200 fixtures into and out of boxes every day is pretty standard for an arena tour these days... |
