MA lighting have sent out an unusual media release, asking magazine and web site editors to refrain from taking ads from Fine Art in China for their Fine Tekmand III console:

Fine Art is the most renown copycat in China. For sure we understand the dependency of magazines on advertising but we can’t tolerate this kind of ads as you will for sure understand.
MA Lighting has already taken legal action against Fine Art and everybody involved in promoting, selling, owning or using products that are built on MA’s IPs, moreover using MA software and source code.

So if you are foolish enough to buy a grandMA clone, you now have MA Lighting's seal of approval on this console being an accurate copy. _________________ Andy Ciddor |

I'm actually curious to see a working version of this console because all their online material clearly shows photoshopped GUI that is not MA software.
I will bet money the production units are running MA software. _________________ Cheers

MA certainly think that it's running their software. _________________ Andy Ciddor |

After looking at these FA copies very closely, I can assure you they are based on MA Lighting technology, however, the version on which they are based is quite old. I am sure anyone using this platform and expecting it to behave like an MA2 wil be disappointed. Particularly when the effects engine doesn't respond as it does in current releases and modern command strings don't work. Of course this won't affect you if you don't use a lighting console to the end of its' abilities, or even at a slightly in depth level. Which is why these facsimiles will proliferate certain areas of the industry, but not others.
Companies like MA, Martin, Clay PAKY, Avolites etc are all rightfully trying to protect their patch, in order to maintain the ability to bring us new and innovative products. It's heartening to see this respected ( for the most part) by the Australian lighting fraternity.
