ALIA FEATURED WEB SITES

Here is a selection from the tasty morsels to be found on our Lighting Links page.
Lighting Links first appeared in 1994 as a text-only page to introduce WAAPA lighting students to the exciting new World Wide Web. Despite the huge advances in technology that have brought graphics, video, movies and Flash animations to the web, the Lighting Links page steadfastly remains text-only to maintain its fast download time.

Lighting Software for the Macintosh (from the Lighting Software category)
Maintained by Alan D. Schaefer, Production Manager at the Shea Center for Performing Arts in New Jersey, this page is part of Alan's "Macintosh Software for the Theatre" site, one of the few sites on the web specialising in Mac software for technical production. The lighting page contains details of Macintosh software packages covering design, lighting control and projection.

Reel EFX (from the Special Effects / Pyrotechnics category)
Reel EFX are into all kinds of unique special effects, ranging from full scale man-made tornadoes and air puppets to DF-50 hazers, fans, and multi-camera visual effects for film.
There are explanations of each of the types of effects work they perform and heaps of downloadable video clips showing both their effects in action and the finished product integrated into a production. The multi-camera tricks they do, with dozens or even hundreds of computer synchronised still cameras, are really amazing and well worth the time for the video downloads.
