ENTECH announces first international speaker

ENTECH 2011, which takes place at SCEC on 19 – 21 July 2011, has secured international Lighting Designer Rob Halliday to speak during the educational program at the show through its agreement with PLASA.

Rob Halliday is based in London and has been travelling the world working on theatre productions for more than fifteen years, as lighting designer (Daddy Cool, the awardwinning My Fair Lady and others), lighting programmer (Red, Betty Blue Eyes, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Mary Poppins, Ragtime, Equus and others including Pan, Oliver!, The Witches of Eastwick and Les Misérables in Australia) or visiting speaker at drama schools such as the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and trade shows such as Showlight, PLASA and LDI.

Along the way he’s written about those shows and any other interesting ones he stumbled across for a variety of magazines including Lighting&Sound International and Lighting&Sound America, the best of those articles now collected together in the books Entertainment In Production vols 1 and 2.

In the moments in between, he’s nagged lighting control manufacturers to improve the tools he uses, and created two useful lighting tools now in use across the industry, FocusTrack and SpotTrack.

Rob Halliday said: “I am very excited to be involved with ENTECH, as I have loved my working visits to Australia in the past and feel a strong connection with the industry there. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences and insights with my industry colleagues during the sessions and at the show.”

Rob will be presenting two keynote sessions and participating in panel sessions at the show.

Registrations for all keynote sessions will be via www.entechintech.com and will open early April.

This announcement also coincides with the publication of the extended ALIA (Australasian Lighting Industry Association) session program for ENTECH 2011. ALIA are running sessions for industry professionals across all levels of experience from beginner to practicing Lighting Designers.
