Elation DARTZ 360™
Posted on Thursday, November 9th, 2017
Elation Professional is pleased to offer the DARTZ 360™, a unique LED beam/spot fixture that offers new projection possibilities from a compact, narrow-beam luminaire. The DARTZ 360 is the first RGB source beam/spot to combine such a high level of output with smooth colour-mixing, gobos, effects and sharp optics in such a small package. A single-source 50W RGB LED engine produces a powerful and tight 3-degree beam for smooth, colour-mixed beam effects similar to a discharge lamp. Output is an amazing 29,000 Lux @ 5M. That’s more lumens per watt than similar products on the market.
Extremely bright for its wattage and size, the combined LED engine source/optics package not only provides brighter output than previous multi-chip LED “beam” solutions, the field of light is also noticeably more homogenous. Safe to use at any distance, the DARTZ 360 is ideal for use in smaller clubs and at smaller events.
The smooth, full spectrum colour output combines with fourteen fixed gobos and effects to produce perfectly colour-mixed beam or image projections. With remote focus for a perfectly smooth colour-mixed beam, the light quality is exceptional. This focusable beam effect is similar to a discharge lamp source but in a fixture that offers full LED colour mixing with an extremely flat field of light and gobo and projection effects.
The DARTZ 360’s effects package also includes 6- and 8-facet independent rotating prisms, which can be overlaid to create new morphing effects. A linear frost filter is also included that softens the beam when a wash effect is needed. The DARTZ 360 is compact and phenomenally fast with lightning-quick motors and continuous 360° pan and tilt movement that adds an intense level of energy to any size show. A high speed electronic shutter and strobe are also included.
Dimming of the LED engine is smooth and stepless from 100 to 0 percent and the unit includes five dimmer curve modes to suit any specific application. When used with cameras, the fixture works absolutely flicker-free thanks to its user-adjustable LED refresh rate and Gamma brightness settings. Standard DMX controllable and RDM ready, the DARTZ 360 can also operate via Art-Net, Kling-Net and sCAN protocol. Users can pixel map multiple units via Art-Net, easily adding into matrix displays the added features of beams and effects.
The DARTZ 360 features a full-colour LCD menu display with a multi-button touch control panel that is 180-degree reversible. Professional grade 5pin XLR, RJ45 etherCON, PowerCON TRUE1 in/out connections are included as is a multi-voltage universal auto switching power supply. The DARTZ 360 can also receive wireless DMX via the integrated Elation E-FLY™ system.

Multiverse by City Theatrical
Posted on Monday, November 6th, 2017
Multiverse® is a breakthrough in wireless DMX/RDM technology that gives lighting users a new range of options for performing lighting tasks more easily than ever, while producing less disruptive radio energy. City Theatrical’s vision of the new lighting world is one in which every DMX device contains a a tiny, inexpensive Multiverse Module, and where legacy lighting products have a Multiverse Node near them, allowing entire productions containing hundreds of fixtures and dozens of universes to be operated wirelessly.
Multiverse Node is the first building block of the Multiverse system. Each Multiverse Node is a transceiver. As a single universe transmitter, it functions in a similar plug and play manner to City Theatrical’s SHoW DMX SHoW Baby®, but speaks the more advanced Multiverse language. As a receiver, it is the primary receiver in the Multiverse system, and can be part of a larger multi-universe setup. Multiverse Node contains both 2.4GHz and 900Mhz radios.
Multiverse Transmitter opens a new world in wireless DMX/RDM. Its Ethernet input allows it to take in Streaming ACN (sACN) or Art-Net and to transmit any of nine user selectable universes of DMX/RDM (five in the 2.4GHz band and four in the 900MHz band) while using only a fraction of the radio energy of any present day single universe wireless DMX transmitter. It also has a built-in Bluetooth radio receiver that allows it to communicate with City Theatrical’s multi award- winning DMXcat® app from the user’s smartphone. This gives the user smartphone control of any lighting fixture that is part of the Multiverse setup, whether it is a lighting fixture with a built-in Multiverse Module, a lighting fixture receiving its data from a Multiverse Node, or any wired fixture downstream of those devices. The Multiverse Transmitter is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing for communication and control from tablet-based Wi-Fi lighting controllers, like Luminair.
Multiverse Gateway is a transceiver, and allows the fullest use of the Multiverse system. The Multiverse Gateway utilizes four radios (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs, 900MHz and 2.4GHz for wireless DMX/RDM output), and sACN or Art-Net input. The user can choose which of the nine available universes they would like to broadcast wirelessly, and can choose another eight universes to output locally as wired DMX/RDM. Receivers on the Multiverse Gateway system can either be individual Multiverse Nodes for single wired DMX/RDM output, or additional Multiverse Gateways. When used as receivers, the Multiverse Gateway can output any of the wireless DMX universes received on any of the eight wired DMX outputs, as well as passing along up to nine universes on the sACN output.
Multiverse Module is a tiny FCC approved circuit board mounted device for lighting manufacturers that allows them to utilize all of the benefits of the Multiverse wireless lighting system.

Discussing Notch, Malcolm says, “Firstly, we have created an authoring tool that speaks the language of creatives, not software developers. Secondly, this is all about working with the wider ecosystem of products used in production industry to get the best of all worlds. Realtime should feel like a familiar creative asset that loads seamlessly into your favourite Ai server being controlled by your favourite Avolites desk. This is where the integration with Notch is so critical.”
Group One’s National Sales Manager, Brad White says that demand for Ai is “growing at a very fast pace. The Avolites Quartz, along with an Ai server, is a spectacular package – full creative visual control of your space. On the other end of the spectrum, the Arena continues to be a popular console in all areas of the industry. On board fiber optic output in a fully integrated network switch coupled with 40 playback faders provides great control in any situation.”
Group One will also be using LDI to launch a brand new Ai training initiative, as the distributor’s Ai specialist Ruben Laine explains: “We’ll be releasing a packed new training program for the Americas, to meet the huge demand for training nationwide, with two, two-day training sessions each month in cities around the US.”
As well as being able to see first-hand the features in development and provide valuable user feedback, attendees on the training courses will also get to walk away with a fully licensed 2-output dongle.
Finally, Avolites and Group One will introduce a new licensing model, designed to help new users get a foot on the Ai ladder. Laine explains, “Ai has decided to do something no one else would dare! We’re upgrading the licensing system to help early and new adopters meet the demands of this ever-evolving industry. Anjuna licenses will now provide two full outputs of 2K, while a Bondi license ups the game to four 4K outputs.”
Laine adds, “And there is SO much more, but you’ll have to come by our booth to find out!”
Group One founder and president Jack Kelly says, “LDI is the annual ‘get together’ for the professional lighting industry. It attracts designers, operators, facilities managers, rental companies, installers – the entire business at one show. Group One have participated in the show for more than 25 years and we find it the best platform to launch new products, meet new people, and continue to develop business for our brands.”
