Applications Now Available for ETC’s 2013 LDI Student Sponsorship

Students looking to get a jump on their career and make connections in the industry should be interested in the ETC LDI Student Sponsorship.

Interested students can apply now for ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship, which awards deserving students an all-expense-paid trip to the LDI 2013 trade show, to be held November 22-24, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Students studying lighting design, theatre technology, or a related field and will be a graduate student or undergraduate senior at the time of the show, are eligible to apply. The application – available at the URL below, takes about 15 minutes to fill out. The application can either be completed electronically or the form printed out and mailed to ETC. All applications must be received by May 10, 2013.

Out of the field of applicants, ETC will choose six finalists: five from North America and one internationally. Recipients receive roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, all meals, a full LDI conference pass, and exclusive swag, with all costs covered by ETC. Sponsorship students are given behind-the-scenes access to ETC’s trade show booth to see the newest additions to ETC’s award-winning line of lighting and rigging equipment. The students are also given the opportunity for one-on-one mentorship by well-known professionals who provide advice, encouragement, and guidance, beginning at LDI and continuing into the future. Another highlight is the ETC-hosted student reception, where sponsorship recipients can network with prominent designers, employers, consultants, educators, journalists, and more.

Program alumnus David Johnson describes his experience at LDI 2012: “The opportunities the scholarship has offered me and the connections I made will serve me very well as I move out into the wider working world of lighting design. It’s great to know that companies as big as ETC take the development of young lighting professionals seriously.”
