Michael Cohen, Technical Director at SBS in TV Operations, has offered to conduct a tour of the SBS offices and studios in Sydney. You will get to look at the News Room, Edit Suites, the Studios where the shows are recorded (News Set, World Game, Insight, Living Black, Global Village, etc) taking a look at the lights used, and the control rooms. After that it’s on to Videotapes / Ingest (which is where the feeds are recorded, items are ingested into the servers for presentation playout) then over to Master Control who look after all incoming and out going feeds from the station. Finally it’s Presentation that creates the main outgoing feeds that you see on your TV at home.
