ACETA announces Australian Entertainment Technology Week

The Australian Commercial and Entertainment Technologies Association (ACETA) has today announced the launch of Australian Entertainment Technology Week as outlined in its white paper distributed to the industry some months ago.  This inaugural industry event will take place in Sydney in the fourth week of July 2013.  Participants will be the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), ENTECH, ACETA, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Australian Lighting Industry Association (ALIA).

The week?long event will incorporate leading industry trade shows and key industry associations, and be branded along the following lines:

Australian Entertainment Technology Week Incorporating SMPTE, ENTECH, ACETA, AES and ALIA

This brings together many of the significant players in the sector, under the one roof at the one time, which was a key demand by the industry to address the crowded trade show calendar.  ACETA thanks these organisations for their willingness to discuss, re?shape and be flexible in order to bring this vision to fruition.  One important benefit is the opening up of the dividing walls between the SMPTE and ENTECH shows.

ACETA also announced the acceptance of a proposal to specifically partner with ENTECH, which will see several changes to the familiar ENTECH format including:

* The ACETA Australian Hall of Manufacturers  ?  a dedicated area for Australian designers and manufacturers which will be promoted worldwide, with a focus on bringing in buyers and potential distributors from Asia and the Middle East.  There are at least 55 manufacturers in this sector in Australia and this package has been specifically designed for them.

* The ACETA Industry Skills Pavilion  ?  a dedicated space to promote career opportunities in our industry, along with mentoring programs and careers oriented workshops.  This is designed to start to address the skills shortage plaguing our sector.

* ACETA?guided workshop and presentations program:  ACETA will convene a committee to work with Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF), the organisers of ENTECH, to further develop the industry?focused and valuable workshop and presentation program.

* Music products:  a dedicated area for music products which overlap into the entertainment technology sector.  This is not a buy/sell for retailers and wholesalers, but an opportunity for music products companies to meet key commercial buyers from corporate markets including education, performing arts, hospitality, tourism, entertainment, production and broadcast.

* Added value packages for ACETA members:  ACETA members will receive added value such as free carpet, forklift and lead tracking, and a waiver of the admin fee.  Hall of Manufacturers participants will also receive a free round table and three chairs.

Frank Hinton, president of ACETA, said “Australian Entertainment Technology Week is about inclusion, unity and is a ‘by the industry for the industry’ platform.  It shows that no party is more important than any other and proclaims renewal, leaving the door wide open for expansion and development should other shows or associations want to join.  This now gives the industry a very clear voice and opportunity to participate in creating a sustainable and unified industry platform which is the ultimate destination.”

Stephen Dallimore, event manager for ENTECH, said “When ACETA convened the roundtable discussions about the crowded trade show calendar it was the ideal opportunity for us to get closer to the industry, to understand better what everyone wants and needs.  Working with ACETA, we can bring expertise in running an event and they can bring the voice of the industry into the heart of our planning.  We think this has to be a win:win and look forward to seeing a new, invigorated ENTECH in 2013.”

Frank Hinton said “Many people across the industry have provided input into this outcome not to mention encouragement, most gratefully received. There will be significant ACETA member benefits and we do hope everyone will benefit from this development.”
