After an introduction to the concept and aims of ALIA, a lively discussion ensued about the proposed membership structure and the operational format of a national association that equitably represents all facets of lighting and all geographic regions. The concept of professional executive officer from outside the lighting industry, as proposed in the ALIA business plan, was welcomed as a means of ensuring equity and administrative independence. Several of those present offered their assistance with the formation of a local chapter as soon as the association completes the process of incorporation. Thanks to Mike Gaff and Jeremy Prestwood of Burswood Island Resort and Kevin and Michelle Harris of Pro Design Lighting for their help in providing the venue and facilities. |
